Things to consider as you progress with your training and configuration - courses 3 & 4
Your CSM will guide you throughout your first cycle, and it can be helpful to consider these points when thinking about your application process and forthcoming events
1. Are there particular questions you need to capture the answers to which are not on the standard application template; do you need them to write back to your MIS?
2. Do you need to ensure you collect a specified minimum number of contacts for every applicant?
3. Have you got policies and documents you need to include within your form, for applicants to read and agree to?
4. What will your process be: have applicants already applied to the Local Authority (meaning you are collecting data only for those who have already been offered a place)? Are they applying directly to you, and you will be the one to make offers?
5. Are you holding any events, such as open evenings, which you wish to publish to your school website and/or allow people to register to attend?
Sixth Form Only
1. Will you need to collect references for your applicants?
2. What type of courses do you offer, and are any of them worth double or triple?
3. Do students have a choice of pathways, for example an A Level-only route, or a Vocational route?
4. Are your subjects already assigned to option blocks, or will applicants have a free choice at the point of applying?
5. Do you run any subjects which are dependent on the applicant also studying something else - for example, Further Maths being reliant on them also opting to study Maths?
6. Are there specific criteria students have to fulfil in order to qualify for a pathway, or particular subjects you offer?
7. What types of qualifications would your applicants need in order to apply: just GCSEs, or would you accept BTEC, WJEC, Cambridge National etc?
