Tips for processing completed applications

Once applications have been received, it can be useful to review and categorise applicants so you can easily identify those who fulfil certain criteria as your cycle progresses.

You could also consider creating application groups, to enable staff to move students into a group once they have checked each application over.

Some schools have red, amber and green application groups (based on predicted grades, usually) so they can easily identify the students who are most and least likely to enrol, at a glance.

Other useful groups could be for identifying students with additional needs, or for grouping together all of the applicants you will be inviting for guidance meetings.

You can schedule meetings directly within your platform and invite applicants to attend them.

Within the platform, you can colour code and "tag" students, so you and your team can easily see which students have been labelled in a particular way. Colours and tags are not visible to the applicant, so they are purely for your own management and tracking.

There is a "notes" area on each student's profile, which is only visible to staff users (not to the applicants). Staff would therefore be able to add a note to comment on their suitability for each course, or any other information of note.

To filter through and see only the students who have applied for their subjects, Heads of Department may find it useful to visit the Subject Summary at the bottom of the main dashboard. They can click on the name of their subject and will see the list of applicants, whose profiles they can then open and peruse in more detail.

Once you have evaluated the applications and completed any sorting/labelling as described above, you may then be in a position to make offers to your applicants.

When you are ready to do so, you can create a pre-admission group in your MIS to transfer the data of your external applicants. Internal applicants' existing profiles in your MIS will be updated with any new data provided by them, so pre-admission profiles are only created for external applicants.

Note: Bromcom does not support the updating of data for internal, on roll students. Any changes to the data of your existing internal students needs to be updated manually, in Bromcom.
