How to change or import email addresses in bulk

This guide will cover how to update or import email addresses for applicants in bulk

You may find that you need to complete a bulk update or import of email addresses into your platform. The most common reasons for this are that you don't have applicants' email addresses stored within your MIS (so they don't transfer into A+ as part of your import) or that you discover email addresses are stored incorrectly in your MIS, so their personal email addresses, or the email addresses of their parents, get imported in instead of their school emails.

1. From your main dashboard, click on your Registered Students tile, or the group of Internal, Incomplete applicants.

2. Select all, and click to export to CSV

3. On the CSV most columns can be discarded; keep Student Code, First Name, Last Name

4. Add a column for Email Address and populate their email addresses; save the file

5. Go to Data > Import > Start an Import and give it a name; select Users and Next

6. Select Existing Users and Next; Students and Next; attach the CSV file

7. On the mapping screen, you should select "no" regarding the creation of parent profiles, and "unchanged" for the student type

8. For the "select a column to match" fields, choose "student code" for both - this is the best way to ensure the data gets mapped to the correct student

9. The only fields you need to map underneath are for the new data (their names are already in your system, so you don't need to reimport those) - map the email address column on your CSV to the student email address field in A+ and click "next" to complete the import

10. All existing values for their email addresses will be replaced with the new data being imported
