Transition Tool

Using the Transition Tool to export to SIMS

How to export data collected in the Transition Tool to SIMS

If you have SIMS as your MIS, you can use the Transition Tool to export your
data directly into your MIS.

The Transition Tool will help you automatically create the necessary Aspects in SIMS to
store your transition data, and will then allow you to export the information into SIMS.

The Aspects can then be added to Marksheets in SIMS following your normal marksheet creation routine.

Within your Transition Tool, click the export button and select export to MIS.

Select Edit SIMS Aspects.

You can then check the values and amend as needed, and proceed to launch your A+ SIMS App, where you will be able to select Import Transition Data

Choose the form you'd like to import data from.

You can then choose which students you wish to import data for; you can select all or make your own selection.

Note: you cannot import Transition Tool data unless you have already imported the students' admission data first. The student has to exist in SIMS before transition data can be imported for them.

See how to import student admissions data to SIMS here

You'll see a confirmation of the Aspects you set up at the beginning of the process, followed by a summary screen where you will click Import.

Finally, on completion of the import process, you'll see a report - check this to ensure there were no errors.

Once the import is complete, the data will be available within SIMS for you to follow your normal procedure to create a Marksheet.
